Melissa Lockard, M.S. CCC-SLP

Director/Speech-Language Pathologist

Melissa Lockard is an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certified speech language pathologist with 23+ years of experience working with preschoolers, families, educators and professionals. She holds licenses in Maryland and Virginia and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from George Mason University, VA in 1992, and her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Gallaudet University, Washington, DC in 1999.

Melissa honed her skills and gained expertise working with special needs children for the Alexandria City Public School system in their Preschool and Child Find programs. She has extensive experience evaluating and treating preschool children with a variety of speech and language disorders, developing Individual Education Plans and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams throughout the community. Melissa's passion for helping children and utilizing a collaborative team approach is the principle upon which her private practice was founded. She believes in the inherent role that parental support and involvement makes in the therapeutic process to help her clients achieve their communication goals.  

Melissa is PROMPT trained and Hanen certified.

In her free time Melissa enjoys traveling, creative writing, reading only good books, exercising to defend her chocolate habit and spending time with her husband and two children.

Laura Levin, M.S. CCC-SLP

Contract Speech-Language Pathologist

Laura is an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certified speech language pathologist with over 17 years of experience working with children as young as 18 months old through middle school, and seniors in long–term care settings treating communication, swallowing and voice disorders. In 2004, Laura joined the Howard County Infants and Toddlers program working in early intervention and provided therapy in both home and school based settings to preschool aged children. Since 2007, Laura has had a small private practice providing private therapy to pre-school and elementary aged children.

Laura received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Emerson College, MA in 1999 and obtained her Masters of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University, FL in 2002. She holds licenses in Maryland, Florida, and the District of Columbia.

Laura is PROMPT trained and Hanen certified.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys traveling, reading, running and spending time with her husband and three children.
